WASTE 2 BIOGAS

This feasibility study aimed at identifying the potentials of valorizing biogenic wastes from Austrian households in a biogas plant, and understanding the advantages and challenges of using the products of the plant, primarily biogas, for different applications such as vehicle fuel and for combined electricity and heat generation. .
Considerations about current biogas plant technologies, the Austrian regulatory framework, greenhouse gas emissions, and the financial viability are included in the analysis. The results report (available only in german) “Study on the development of the potential of biogenic household waste and green waste for the purpose of recycling in a biogas plant for optimized energy and material recovery – application example model region Mödling” was published by the Austrian Ministry of the Environment in 2011.
