LEDON & INFINEON TECHNOLOGIES AG
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for a new Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamp developed by Infineon Technologies AG and LEDON Lighting Jennersdorf GmbH has been completed, following the methodological considerations described in ISO 14040. The goal was to understand the environmental performance by calculating the contribution of the LED lamp to global warming by quantifying the greenhouse gas emissions over the product´s life cycle and to compare its performance with an equivalent conventional product – the incandescent lamp. The results served as recommendations for further design and development efforts for this of the LED lamp.
