BeBOP Project Hosts Third Circularity Workshop on Green Methanol in Güssing, Austria
As part of the EU-funded BeBOP Project activities, the ECODESIGN company organized and held the third Circularity Workshop in Güssing, Austria, on the 30th of April, 2025 in collaboration with Güssing Energy Technologies (GET). The event focused on the real-world challenges of producing green methanol from biomass.
Key insights included the importance of feedstock reliability over variety, as consistent sources like wood chips are preferred for industrial use. Feedstock quality was found to impact uptime and costs more significantly than price.
Participants also discussed broader issues such as policy uncertainty, carbon pricing, and the need for standardization and scaling to reduce costs and support industrial deployment. Bridging the gap between lab innovation and real-world application remains a core objective.
The next Circularity Workshop will take place on May 21, 2025, in Mannheim, with a focus on methanol synthesis and input from ICODOS experts.
