SustaiNext completed 3 years of impressive work
The pioneer European project SustaiNext completed 3 years of work this summer, reaching important milestones that were presented in the general assembly of its consortium. In particular the ambitious technological objectives of this project are becoming a tangible reality, with the construction of the new, industrial scale, digital, dynamic, analytical, versatile, and multi-product biorefinery (called DYANA), which will be inaugurated next September 2026.
ECODESIGN as partner in this ambitious project, is bringing its know-how to validate the sustainability strategy along the whole supply chain, from feedstock production to end use of botanical extracts. ECODESIGN leads the project´s dedicated work towards zero-waste, zero-emissions and full regulatory compliance, to help demonstrate the environmental, social and economic viability of SustaiNext in the Extremadura region.
At this 3-year general assembly at the headquarters of partner MIAVIT in Vechta (Germany), ECODESIGN presented the results from the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing, the social LCA and the unique framework and indicators developed for assessing circularity. ECODESIGN will continue delivering strategic activities and consolidating results during the next 18 months of demonstration and exploitation, to help SustaiNext truly transform the European botanical ingredients sector.
