SUSTAINEXT: Successful First Period Review Meeting & Inauguration of the New Plant groundsite.
On March 4, 2025, the first official Project Review Meeting of the SUSTAINEXT project took place in Hervás, Spain. Over 30 representatives, from all partner organizations gathered with the project officer from the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU), and two external experts, to assess the progress made during the first eighteen months.
This was a strategic milestone for ECODESIGN company GmbH, leading the work package “Towards Zero environmental impact and regulatory compliance”. Our team presented the latest results of the tasks evaluating the project’s environmental, cost, social, circularity and regulatory aspects and impacts.This review meeting allowed a for a critical synchronization and alignment on the next steps. Direct collaboration with evaluators provided valuable feedback, helping us set the course for the project’s continued success.
From Vision to Impact: Inauguration of the New plant Site
On March 5, 2025, the second day of the meeting, the ground for the new SUSTAINEXT production facility was officially inaugurated. Guests from local, regional, and national authorities in Spain, alongside all project partners, gathered to look first hand at the ground and construction progress, and to celebrate its official opening.
Thanks to a strong public-private collaboration, flexible regulations, and a highly skilled workforce, the region of Extremadura is establishing a sustainable and forward-thinking economic model. Innovation and sustainability in botanical extract production are becoming a reality with SUSTAINEXT.
.The review meeting and the ground site inauguration have demonstrated that the SUSTAINEXT collaborative efforts are delivering tangible results. With its expertise ECODESIGN will continue contributing along the next 36 months of the SUSTAINEXT project, to advance the implementation of this unique circular biorefinery model.
