Understanding instead of just knowing!

Participants learn about current environmental challenges, understand their links to their own company as well as (future) regulatory requirements (e.g. ESPR and DPP), and gain methods and tools to implement these within their company and their products.

Training packages

1. Basic knowledge: Environmental and regulatory orientation

• Understanding the causes of climate change, waste issues, and resource scarcity.
• Identifying links between own production processes and resulting environmental impacts.
• Introduction to global, European, and national initiatives (SDGs, EU Green Deal, Austrian circular economy or bioeconomy strategies).

2. Understanding ESPR & DPP

• Purpose and content of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).
• Product-related design requirements: repairability, modularity, refurbishability, disassembly, lifespan, etc.
• Information-related requirements in relation to the Digital Product Passport (DPP): share of secondary raw materials, share of critical raw materials, repair instructions, etc.
• Specific requirements under the ESPR for your product or product group.

3. Implementation of environmental requirements in companies

• Product analysis of example products (CO₂ footprint, LCA, circular economy indicators) and selection of the relevant circular economy strategy.
• Development of product concepts to ensure ESPR compliance.
• Calculation of indicators (share of secondary raw materials, reuse rate, recycling rate) for communication in the DPP.

4. Tool application: ECODESIGN+

• Analysis of concrete product examples using the in-house software ECODESIGN+ (calculation of the CO₂ footprint).
• Rapid decarbonisation assessments: determining the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) of your products within minutes, even without final life cycle data.
• Early selection of design decisions for decarbonisation and circularity using ecodesign checklists.
